SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compounds and dispenses medication pursuant to a physician order. Monitors drug therapy for appropriateness of drug, dose, route and duration of therapy. Screens for drug interactions, incompatibilities and contraindications. Recognizes potential adverse drug effects and intervenes as appropriate. Provides drug information to physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and patients. Participates in Interdisciplinary Team Conferences and other patient-care activities. Cares for all age group patients (birth and above).
· B.S. Pharmacy degree from accredited College of Pharmacy.
· Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy (or must be Ohio-licensed within 90 days of employment).
· Must provide evidence of meeting state-mandated continuing education requirements upon request.
· For third-shift positions, at least one year experience as a staff pharmacist in a hospital pharmacy is required.
· For all other shifts, previous hospital pharmacy experience is highly desirable.
· Previous pharmacy computer experience desirable.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge and skill required to perform the job responsibilities for both technical and dimensional content.
Has broad working knowledge of the practice of Pharmacy. Analyzes and interprets complicated information. Determines a course of action based on general guidelines. May modify existing forms, procedures or methods. May use highly sophisticated equipment requiring extensive training. Individual must remain current in his/her knowledge of drugs, therapeutics and drug delivery systems.· PROBLEM
The degree to which judgment and analysis must be exercised in planning, investigating issues, and evaluating alternative solutions to the challenges posed by the job. Deals with the nature of the decisions, the variety of problems, and how decisions are made in context of the typical requirements of the job.

PRINCIPAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Uses appropriate downtime procedures when computer system is unavailable to assure accurate dispensing and charge capture.
Performs nursing unit inspections in accurate/timely manner.
Participates in research/investigational drug usage as needed; maintains IND disposition records as required.
Assists in maintaining departmental drug information library.
Serves as an active member on hospital committees as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Assists in training of new employees and pharmacy students.
Participates in hospital and community drug education programs as assigned.
Projects a professional image for the department
Demonstrates an understanding of basic hospital and departmental policies.
Assists in maintaining basic drug supply from vendors.
Demonstrates understanding of how pharmacy interacts with other departments; understands the “big picture”.
Performs stock section checks as assigned.
Wears prescribed uniform per Departmental policy.
