  • Responsible for creating effective analytics tools to summarize patient encounters and population-based healthcare.

  • Develop, maintain, and ensure the quality of clinical, operational, and financial dashboards, scorecards, screening tools, and surveillance tools to guide the achievement of treatment and strategic goals.

  • Create end-user accessibility to business information and business analytics.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of tools to further develop patient care and analytical systems.

  • Analyzes, tests, and implements modifications and/or enhancements to computer systems.

  • Prepares test data and test systems for accuracy. Confers/consults with others in pharmacy, IT, nursing, lab, and HIS to ensure affected systems have been considered.

  • Completes assigned tasks as defined in project scopes and timelines for implementation. May work on multi-facility implementations/projects at any given time.

  • Consults with management regarding project priorities, issues, timelines, and assignments.

  • Consults with IT and vendors regarding interface changes and the requirements of the pharmacy dispensing systems. Tests and implements modifications to the interfaces. Monitors inbound and outbound interfaces.

  • Maintains documentation of all additions, deletions, and updates to pharmacy order entry and dispensing systems.

  • Daily updates of the formulary database for MMC, MWL, MBH, and MRH facilities and duplicates the formulary files in Pyxis and Omnicell.

  • Create, modify, or delete order sentences to Cerner. Test changes in certification and production environment. Test using multiple hospital positions.

  • Build, modify, and test IV sets in Cerner Med manager.

  • Update Cerner Pricing Tool with HCPCS codes and QCF. Relay any changes to Finance and Conifer as needed.

  • Add or modify defaults for medications. (Route, frequency, order comments, stops, infuse over, etc.)

  • Update Conifer with new unique CDMs.

  • Investigate billing issues presented by pharmacy staff, finance, and patient accounts and create solutions including new workflows and education when needed.

  • Investigate BCMA issues and correct.

  • Plan and maintain Cerner OPS cycles for correct medication preparation and dispensing.

  • Develop training materials and train users on system functionality.

  • Demonstrates to users that the new system modifications or enhancements meet user needs.

  • Coordinate resolution and functioning during production system problems and emergencies.

  • Provides 24x7 application support as needed.

  • Contacts vendors regarding software projects and/or any software issues. Tracks issues and resolutions. Determines the need for escalation.

  • Monitor the pharmacy computer system to assure system integrity and optimum performance. Evaluate system file sizes, identifies software problems, and either resolves or reports these problems to the vendor.

  • Troubleshoot printer and PC malfunctions and request field service for hardware maintenance when necessary.

  • Supervise daily informatics and billing operations.

  • Communicate issues and changes in the pharmacy system to the pharmacy staff.

  • Communicates issues and changes impacting the pharmacy automated dispensing system to nursing as needed.

  • Promote quality service by investigating and resolving problems with the reporting of patient information for nurses, physicians and pharmacists.

  • Attends classes, seminars, and reads available literature to maintain a working knowledge of state-of-the-art hardware/software techniques.

  • Responsible for responding to on-demand information from outside auditors of user security, formulary, billing, CMS, 340B, and other government entities. Also performs periodic adhoc audits to detect diversion, find issues with billing, compliance, and security. Reports issues to team. Creates and works solutions to overcome issues when found

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, clients, co-workers, staff and management at all times.

  • Understand and meet the requirements of the Corporate Compliance Program; comply with the standards set by department policy, TJC, and other regulatory agencies governing activities within the department 100% of the time.

  • Serve as preceptor for pharmacy students and residents and assists with projects for students and residents as needed.


  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Business, Clinical or related field. (At least four years of experience in an IT analyst role with experience implementing and supporting one or more Cerner Millennium and modules may be substituted for the above requirement.)

  • Knowledge of clinical systems and Health Information Management.

  • Experience in CCL programming and design.

  • Proven organizational skills and time management.

  • Considerable knowledge of the use and limitation of computer systems.

  • BS Pharm, or Pharm D with a minimum of 3 years hospital pharmacy experience desirable, Post-Graduate Year 2 (PGY2) in Pharmacy Informatics or equivalent experience desirable.
