The Christ Hospital Health Network Clinical Specialist Pharmacist - Oncology in CINCINNATI, Ohio

This position will be located in the MedSurg Pharmacy at The Christ Hospital main campus, 2139 Auburn Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.

Job Overview : The hematology/oncology clinical pharmacy specialist provides support to both inpatient and outpatient oncology care settings. This position will rotate between inpatient and outpatient settings at regularly set intervals. Responsibilities in both settings include providing high-quality and evidence-based clinical pharmaceutical care to patients, supporting the medical oncology team, reviewing chemotherapy orders for accuracy, and counseling patients on medications and health subjects. He/She collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other health-care practitioners to provide safe, high quality, and cost-effective drug therapy. Understand and properly incorporate a growing number of oncologic therapies (both oral and IV) that are both highly specialized and highly expensive. Work closely with the continuing development and build of our system EMR application and provide clinical decision support and utilization compliance support. Support the network formulary.

The Pharmacist may perform the following duties :

  • Responsible for clinically referencing lab values for appropriate dosing of chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy drugs for standard of care therapies, as well as investigational therapies, communication and therapy coordination for oncology patients, including being a liaison and educator to the oncology providers and nurses.

  • Precept pharmacy students and residents

  • Provide staff development and competencies

  • Participate in performance improvement activities for service areas, pharmacy, and institution

  • Ensure compliance with national standards for the safe delivery and handling of hazardous agents (USP 800)

    Education : Pharm.D degree (or equivalent practice experience)

    Experience : Completion of PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residency, with Hematology/Oncology PGY2 specialization (or equivalent practice experience)

    Licenses & Certifications : Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio
