Willis Towers Watson Director, Pharmacy Clinical Product Development (Pharmacist) in Chicago, Illinois
Willis Towers Watson is looking for an energetic individual with growth, pharmacy, clinical and product development expertise to lead a wide array of strategic projects and grow our solutions portfolio with a focus on driving client value and revenue. The ideal candidate is patient centric problem solver who possesses the ability to balance client clinical needs and business growth. You will collaborate with a strong team of highly experienced consultants within the practice as well as engage in cross-functional activities. A pharmacist license is required for this role.
You will spend 60% - 70% your time focused on supporting product development from concept, research, refinement, launch, maintenance and measurement. The rest of your time will be spent supporting client engagements for pharmacy consulting services. As a Senior Pharmacy Consultant you will lead large, highly visible client engagements. You will drive the strategy and grow relationships with current clients, as well as participate in prospecting opportunities with new clients. You will serve as a key voice to the marketplace of one of the world’s leading HR consulting firms, and have the ability to contribute to the evolution of pharmacy and broader health care delivery in North America.
60%-70% Product Development and Intellectual Capital
Develop a thorough understanding of unmet clinical needs in health care with a focus on pharmacy but through the lens of the comprehensive solutions Willis Towers Watson offers to clients.
Engage in a combination of market research, competitive analysis, customer feedback, clinical diligence and data/claims interrogation to develop revenue generating new solutions to address our clients’ needs
Meet with vendors to understand the opportunities for strategic partnerships and pharmacy solution opportunities including potential for technology enablement
Partner closely with the solutions, health management, health analytics and other related cross functional Willis Towers Watson teams to define a multi-year strategy for expanding the comprehensiveness of our integrated pharmacy and clinical offerings
Contribute to intellectual capital development
Own product research, development, deployment and outcomes measurement within the assigned time period and with an assigned growth goal
Contribute pharmacy and related perspectives to broader health and benefits strategy and growth
Manage strategic partnerships, including launch, maintenance and enhancements
Spearhead the development of new pharmacy tools and approaches; collaborate with executive leadership at vendors and clients in creation of next generation solutions
30% - 40% Client Delivery - Consulting
Serve as the strategic partner and trusted advisor to large, complex clients in the design and management of their pharmacy benefit programs including:
Pharmacy benefit plan analysis, design and cost savings strategies
Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) vendor procurement and negotiation
Audits of PBM performance (financial and operational)
Strategy for Specialty pharmacy products
Materially grow pharmacy benefits revenue through serving as the pharmacy benefits expert in new client pursuits by crafting and selling solutions to meet their needs
Oversee Consultants/Project Managers in the design and delivery of project plans; finalize and present deliverables to clients
Contribute to marketing of Willis Towers Watson by speaking at conferences, writing articles and otherwise promoting the company

15+ years’ experience in clinical strategy, product development, pharmacy benefit management, health analytics, growth and consulting
Deep understanding of the pharmacy benefit management, healthcare and product development ecosystems, either at a PBM, health plan, health tech company or as a benefits consultant
Multi-year experience includes any or all the following: specialty condition management, diabetes and oncology management and clinical expertise
Prior experience leading strategic partnership development and growth strongly preferred
A dynamic, strategic thinker not afraid to challenge the status quo by asking the hard questions and deconstructing and rebuilding current solutions as necessary
Value add mentality with the ability to develop optimization and/or enhancements for current Willis Towers Watson clinical solutions
Able to change ambiguity into clarity, action and outcomes in a high paced environment that requires the ability to multitask and prioritize.
Passionate about patient outcomes, client relationships and working with cross functional teams
Proven experience creating project plans and successfully leading teams in execution of the project
Deployment mentality including pilots, test and fail fast, as well as, quick client wins that build the foundation to build upon with future client offerings
Engaging speaking skills with an ability to communicate complex ideas simply and effectively; ability to speak credibly about clinical, technical, financial aspects of Willis Towers Watsons’ offerings
Experience in training/mentoring junior staff
Strongly preferred experience with
Pharmacy pricing and/or underwriting
Development and/or maintenance of a formulary
Participation in P&T Committee
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint
Availability to travel on an as needed basis
Education: Minimum Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy
Licensure: Registered pharmacist in good standing in the state of residence.
